  • 2/3 cup dried cranberries – 50 g
  • 2/3 cup dried blueberries – 50 g
  • 2/3 cup dried raspberries – 50 g
  • 1/2 cup crumbled bacon – 80 g
  • 1/2 cup salted sunflower seeds – 50 g
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds – 10 g
  • 1/3 cup red onion fried and dried into small pieces – 50 g
  • 3/4 cup olive oil mayo
  • 1 or 1/2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1/4 tbsp salt
  • 1/4 tbsp back pepper
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 3 tbsp brown or granulated sugar
  • 1/4 sour cream

  • Let’s start with the broccoli, making sure to cut off the stems and slice the broccoli into small pieces or florets.
  • From personal experience, I would like to share something about my habit of preparing broccoli salad, firstly I blanch the broccoli which means boiling the broccoli in hot water for 5 minutes. I would do this, because if there are any bugs or bacteria get soaked in hot water, it’s completely up to you what you prefer, blanching or keeping the broccoli raw.
  • Transfer the blanched broccoli to a large bowl to mix all the upcoming ingredients properly.
  • Add dried cranberries, raspberries, blueberries and salted sunflower seeds to get a sweet and sour flavor later, if you want to customize add any berries/seeds you like best.
  • Load the crumbled bacon, if you don’t like premade bacon you can make your own in the oven but most grocery stores also carry premade bacon.
  • Once the above steps are completed, separate each layer of onion, cut them as strips, leave it for 4 to 5 minutes, then fry those peeled onion pieces until they turn golden brown.
  • Now we start dressing our broccoli, take a medium-sized empty bowl, mix olive oil with mayo, sour cream, white vinegar, granulated sugar, salt, pepper and whisk them together until all the ingredients are mixed, I like to add 1 or 2 tablespoons of olive oil with the mayo to make it a little lighter, but you can use any regular mayo you like.
  • Now pour the dressing over the broccoli salad bowl and mix everything together, garnish with lightly roasted sesame seeds and add some shredded cheese to the broccoli salad, at this time our broccoli salad is ready to serve.
